Last evening dsil called to tell us that her mil had had a massive heart attack & her dh was trying to make arrangements to go.  They later called back at about 11:00 PM to say dbil was going but dsil would need a ride to work today, they have one car.  Dh said to go and we would get his sister to work.  Well, before dbil got out of town, the car broke down and he let it coast into a bank driveway …
only place around.  He walked home but forgot his wallet & cell phone in the car.
  Then our dog, who sleeps in our bedroom on his palate, began coughing.  Then the police showed up looking for dbil, they found his car and probably his wallet to have gotten our address.  He got his La.
license while living at our house.  Then my bedside clock fell off the night stand and woke us up.  Between all this stuff and bathroom breaks, we didn’t get much sleep.
  Dbil never made it out of town.  His mother has been to surgery twice now since last night.  I feel bad that he cannot be there.
  We have had lots of rain today.  We had a 80% chance & got it.  Our enclosed porch took on water ankle deep.  Fortunately it has a brick floor & brick walls.  I began bringing furniture in to get it out of the water.  Some of it I couldn’t get on my own.  dh made it home and put the rest on bricks.  The rain slowed down enough that dh was able to sweep a lot of the water out of the porch.  I was stressing out and wishing dh could have gotten home sooner ….

  Anyway, now the rain has backed off but with the ground being saturated from rain almost every day lately, I am concerned about more flooding.  People have driven down our street creating a wake.  Their behavior is crappy.  We don’t need to make a difficult situation worse.
  At once point, dh told me it would be okay because we have insurance.  That is true but all I could see was rising water and lots of problems.
  One bright spot ….
dh has a friend with a car in good driving shape but an older model.  He was able to help dbil and dsil by paying for this car, about $500.  It has been fixed up by a mechanic that dh knows personally.  So maybe now they can get around with more peace of mind.  Writing this check will not affect our budget because we have the famous FFEF.
